Dr. Engr. Bande Yahaya Muhammed – (The Rector)
Dr. Bande became Rector of the Federal Polytechnic Kaura Namoda on 15th May 2019, having previously served as Director Academic Planning and Director Center for Information Technology at Waziri Umaru Federal Polytechnic Birnin-Kebbi and Head of Mechanical Engineering Department and Deputy Dean Faculty of Engineering, Kebbi State University of Science and Technology, Aliero. A Mechanical Engineer by training, Dr. Bande received a B. Eng. in Mechanical Engineering from Ahmadu Bello University Zaria, Nigeria. He then studied in the Usmanu Danfodiyo University, Sokoto, Nigeria, graduating with Post-Graduate Diploma in Management, and subsequently an M. Eng. (Energy Engineering) from Bayero University Kano, Nigeria and M. Sc Eng. Safety Engineering, Reliability and Risk Management from University of Aberdeen, Scotland, UK. He completed his PhD Mechanical Engineering from University Putra Malaysia in 2014. He is a member of Nigerian Society of Engineers, Registered Engineer, Council for Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria (COREN), Member, Solar Energy Society of Nigeria and Fellow, National Association of Technologists in Engineering (FNATE). Dr. Bande’s research interests are in thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, and Renewable energy. He has published four books;

Dr. Bande’s commitment to educational research won him PTDF National Merit Award for Overseas Scholarship, Institution’s Letter of Commendation for Renewable Energy Research, Governing Council’s Letter of Commendation on STEP-B World Bank Funded Research, TETFund Overseas Academic Staff Training and Institution’s Letter of Commendation for Outstanding performance as Director Academic Planning at Waziri Umaru Federal Polytechnic, Birnin-Kebbi. He rose from the rank of Lecturer III in 2000 to Chief Lecturer in 2018. In 2018, He moved to Kebbi State University of Science and Technology, Aliero, where he served as Head, Department of Mechanical Engineering and Deputy Dean, Faculty of Engineering before being appointed the Rector of Federal Polytechnic, Kaura Namoda, Zamfara State. Dr. Bande has served many committees at Waziri Umaru Federal Polytechnic Birnin-Kebbi and Kebbi State University of Science and Technology Aliero. He is married and have five children.
